
Jute Natural Fibre Craft Cluster Thakurpur, Dehradun is under taken by WDO under Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojna (AHVY) Scheme (Model Cluster) of Office of the Development Commission (Handicrafts), Govt. of Indiafor up-scaling of Deswign % Technical Development of Artisans and establishment of infrastructure for sustainable development of artisans in the cluster to lead better livelihood conditions.
We have successfully completed the first cluster (2002-07) under AHVY in the name of participatory Rambans Craft Cluster Kolhupani, Dehradun and the activites under this cluster are still sustaining. In this village 40,000 sq.meters (4 hectares) land is allocated to WDO to establish Natural Fibre based plantation, Common Facility Centre, Working Sheds for SHG's etc.
The project Plan is prepared by the Chief Functionary of the Organisation Dr (Mrs.)K.K Sharma, D.Phil& DSc. from FRI (Forest Research Institute) Dehradun in consultation with colleague scientists from FRI, Textile & Chemical Engineers.
The project plan is an Integrated Plan from Baseline Survey, Skill Upgradation, Design Development, Production Platform etc with alll the backward & forward linkages. Even efforts are being made for linked working capital loan from bankers for all the beneficiares of Thakurpur Cluster.
